Octavio Reyes
The village of Ocumicho, Michoacan is famous for its clay work and use of devils and Christian lore combined with ancient Purepecha beliefs. One of the most famous artists is Octavio Reyes. Known for his large naïve brightly painted clay figures, Octavio is unique. Hi sense of humor and imagination is reflected in each and every piece. He is best known for his wild masks that turn snakes or lizards into noses in both clay and wood, crazy monster figures, and his other brightly colored whimsical and humorous pieces. He is truly one of a kind.
