Tomasa Gonzalez Sanchez

Tomasa Gonzalez Sanchez is one of our favorite artists from Ocumicho, Michoacan.  Her wonderful imagination is fueled by generations of the indigenous Purepecha people from this village.  Creatures come to life in full color, bible stories are mixed in, but you'll notice that the devil (portrayed as a playful imp) is never in the company of the Virgin of Guadalupe.  Tomasa's fabulous Mexican folk art wins competitions year after year.  Her work should be part of any serious folk art collector's collection.
