Moises Rodriguez
Moises comes from Tonalá outside of Guadalajara. As one 5 of Salvador Vasquez' apprentices, Moises learned the technique of Barro Bruñido from one of the “Great Masters.” Moises has adapted this technique into his own unique creations often applying beautiful pieces of adorned and burnished clay to hand painted wood; creating retablos, murals, boxes and other forms. He has become very interested in preserving some of Tonalá’s figurative work from the early 1920s and often uses depictions of some of these wonderfully naïve characters and village scenes in his work.
