This amazing etching was just finished by Japanese Mexican painter and printmaker, Shinazburo Takeda.  It is created using the Aguafuete and Aguatinta techniques and is part of a limited edition of 80 pieces.  The title Lunes del Cerro  (Mondays on the Hill) is another name sometimes used for the festival called the Guelaguetza in Oaxaca.  The festival takes place over a week and goes from Monday to Monday in the magnificent auditorium on the hill.

Shinzaburo is considered one of Oaxaca's most important artists.  He has lived in Mexico for over fofty years and trained several generations of Mexican artists, many of them indigenous Zapotecs and Mixtecs.  Since 1980, Takeda as served as chair of the Department of Art at the Universidad Autonoma "Benito Juarez" in Oaxaca.
