Raymundo Gonzalez, June 13 - July 9
Raymundo's paintings are known around the world and COSAS is proud to have his work on hand. His work can be described best as Magical Realism. He paints what he sees: a mix of Spanish and Indian cultures, fiestas, traditions, myths and color. His dreamlike work reflects real Mexican culture in a way that captures the viewer's imagination. Larger oils on canvas and works on paper will both be featured. Don't miss this important exhibit.
A Celebration of Oaxacan Textiles, Opening Reception, July 11
The state of Oaxaca is best know for its amazing weaving and embroidery. Hundreds of people partake in this craft and the outcome is a variety of textures and colors that are a feast to the eye. We have brought in a wide collection of wearable art from this region. No broader collection can be found anywhere near. So come on in and celebrate the beginning of COSAS newest venture and leave wearing a handmade jewel.
Victor Uhthoff, August 8 - September 10
Mexico City artist Victor Uhthoff's work will be featured in August. His recognition in and around Mexico and the US has earned him a position in a group known as the new "Latin Renaissance." His contemporary work depicts typical Mexico situations with people and often animals. His creations are bold and distinguishable, yet still playful and mythical. This will be a show to enjoy.
