Great Master of Mexican Folk Art, Oscar Soteno and his family have helped make Metapec one of the most important pottery centers in all of Mexico.  Oscar is best known for his amazing traditional trees of life covering many different themes.  (Life of Christ, Monarch Butterflies, Family Trees, etc.)  He also makes beautifully hand painted Catrinas.  His work stands apart in that he models the clay by hand and employs very little integral wire in the structures, as others do in Metapec.  He pays close attention to details and often incorporates as many a 3 faces in his trees.  His work shows off the fantasy and creativity that his family has become famous for.  He also is now making beautiful lead free casuela’s.
