Luis Cortez is the relative and student of Salvador Vazquez; one of the Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art. At the side of the master, Luis learned the technique of Barro Bruñido. His work is among the finest in this style. His craftsmanship is evident in his richly detailed and brightly colored vessels. He has taken the technique beyond traditional pots and plates and creates boxes and dimentional items. He has recently begun creating a series of masks that he incorporates into the sides of his pieces. Luis is a true artist and is consistently recognized at important competitions throughout Mexico.
