Founders, Bob and Amy Niederhauser opened the shop in 2000 after being avid collectors of art and fine, hand-made crafts. Since they started collecting art, their philosophy has been to get to know the artists and their work, go to their homes, studios, and meet their families. They now work with many of the Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art who make many custom pieces just for COSAS. The thrill is about the hunt for new and exciting artisans and ways of working. This in combination with a love of the traditional crafts gives COSAS a unique offering. Paintings have been added to the collections at COSAS. Artists include many of the known working painters today.
COSAS is the Spanish word for “things” and it’s used as an endearing term in some parts of Mexico. The “things” found at COSAS are master-crafted art coming from artists in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador and other interesting places to travel and shop. The store does not accept work from sales representatives or mass wholesalers.
COSAS is about individuality and Bob and Amy search for pieces that tell a story and mean something. Their passion for unique art translates into an unforgettable shopping experience. COSAS is a destination. Eclectic furniture, art and home decoration come together at COSAS providing customers with a distinctive, personalized shopping experience, so that they find that unique, exceptional accent to add to their own individual home and tastes. COSAS guarantees that—if we don’t have it, we’ll look for it. For more information, email us at cosas@cosasonline.com we always love to hear suggestions or comments.
